The Harrogate Ringway: Part Two - 11 miles

2019-09-08 10:15:00 2019-09-08 17:00:00 Europe/London The Harrogate Ringway: Part Two - 11 miles

The Harrogate Ringway is a walk of roughly twenty miles that encircles the spa town of Harrogate at a radius of 3 to 4 miles. I have split the Ringway walk into two eleven mile linear walks, using the number 36 bus to return to the starting point each time. Each walk starts from the same point on the south side of Harrogate, on two separate dates. Details below. Feel free to join me for both parts or just one.

Part One: 3rd August 2019 – Hornbeam Park to Knox/New Park following the Ringway in a clockwise direction through Pannal and Birk Crag.

Part Two: 8th September 2019 – Hornbeam Park to Knox/New Park following the Ringway in an anti-clockwise direction through Knaresborough and the Nidd Gorge.

Starting point: Free public car park at Hornbeam Park railway station. Meet at 10am, ready to set off at 10.15am.

Travelling to the meeting point:

Catch the 36 bus to Oatlands Corner and walk down Hookstone Road to Hornbeam Park Railway Station car park (an easy half mile walk)…or…

Park in the free public car park at Hornbeam Park Railway Station, accessed by Hornbeam Park Avenue. Avoid the yellow car park spaces as they are for the Premier Inn only… or…

It looks like the trains are not running on this date but there is a replacement bus service (due to engineering works?)

The walk will end at the bus stop opposite Redfearns Garage on the A61, in the Knox/New Park area on the north side of Harrogate. We will catch the 36 bus from there back to Oatlands Corner and then walk 0.5 miles back to Hornbeam Park.

For those using the 36 bus to get to the start of the walk, you may want to buy a return ticket as we will be using the 36 at the end of the walk.

Please bring a packed lunch, plenty of water to drink, waterproofs and sun protection. Walking boots are recommended.

For those heading back to the meeting point at the end of the walk there will be the option of going to The Park for a drink before heading home.
