Shibden Hall Evening Walk

2022-07-05 19:30:00 2022-07-05 21:15:00 Europe/London Shibden Hall Evening Walk

From the Shibden Hall Road car park* we head up to the beacon on Beacon Hill, with views of the town of Halifax and beyond. We follow tracks and quiet lanes down to Dark Lane (a historic path in a deep hollow, which is a registered ancient monument). From there we head to Shibden Park and up past Shibden Hall back to the car park.

Shibden Hall was the home of Anne Lister whose diaries provided the basis for the BBC series Gentleman Jack.

There are ups and downs but nothing very steep. Walking boots are recommended. Dogs need to be on a lead.

*We are meeting in the pay and display car park on Shibden Hall Road. The nearest post code is HX3 9XY. It's known as the upper car park. It's free after 6pm. Check it out on Google before you set off. (We are not meeting in the lower car park which is next to the cafe building in the park).

The walk is expected to take about one and three quarter hours.
