2018-11-10 10:15:00 2018-11-10 000:00 Europe/London Scammonden Water, Cupwith Hill & Wholestone Moor.

This is a repeat of the walk I led on 05.03.16, which is also the last time I walked in this area.

There is a pub stop on the walk but I will not be staying for a drink after the walk as I have plans for the evening.

Meet at 10.15am for a 10.30am start.

Wood Edge car park, Low Platt Lane, Scammonden.

A moorland walk which includes three reservoirs and two trigpoints.  Although mostly on good paths and some minor roads, some of the route is on moorland so please wear waterproof boots.

Starting at Scammonden Water we walk to Deanhead Reservoir.  From here we go to Cupwith Hill trig and then past Cupwith Reservoir towards Cop Hill.

After the pub stop at Cop Hill we head down to Merrydale then up to Wholestone Moor before returning to Scammonden Water.

PLEASE NOTE : If driving on the M62 West towards Manchester you cannot exit at Junction 23 as there is no access.  If driving on the M62 West you need to exit at Jct 24 and take the A643, then the A640 to Scammonden. On the A640 there are two bridges over the M62, after the pub (Lower Royal george) there are two right-hand turnings to Scammonden Water – take the second one which has a brown tourist information sign as this road takes you more directly to the car park.
