Pateley Bridge & Brimham Rocks

2021-06-20 10:00:00 2021-06-20 16:30:00 Europe/London Pateley Bridge & Brimham Rocks

The maximum number of people on this walk will be 16, including the walk leaders.

From Pateley Bridge we follow the Nidderdale Way along Panorama Walk uphill to Blazefield, visiting the remains of an ancient church along the way. We then head east on various tracks to Brimham Rocks where we will visit a trig point and then have a lunch break. If the weather is okay we will have an extended break to give people chance to explore a little as well as eat their packed lunch. There are toilets at Brimham Rocks and drinks/ice creams are usually on sale too.

We then head south through fields and woodland down to Low Laithe. This part of the walk is likely to be muddy, especially after rainfall.

We then follow the River Nidd all the way back to Pateley Bridge.

From the outset this walk involves walking uphill. The second half is downhill to the river then flat all the way back to the start. The paths are rocky and uneven in many places and at times the path along the river is very narrow. We will have to walk in single file at the side of a road on a couple of occasions. Everyone needs to take care at Brimham Rocks where there are sheer drops to watch out for.

*Paying for Parking*
It's a bargain at £1.80 for all day but please be aware that the machine only accepts coins.
