This circular walk is based on a route designed by Mike Brockhurst aka ‘The Walking Englishman’ www.walkingenglishman.com who joined us for the day when we led it in June 2017 as part of the Take A Hike 15th Anniversary celebrations.

After the walk there will be a meal at a pub in Pateley Bridge at 5.15pm, by prior arrangement. Please contact Susan to book your place. (There is no need to book a place if you are just intending to come along for the walk.)

The Route

From Pateley Bridge we climb via Panorama Walk to Blazefield and then head east on various tracks to Brimham Rocks where we will have a break (please bring a packed lunch). Brimham Rocks is a natural spectacle of giant rock formations. For more details use this link:
https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/brimham-rocks

We then head south to Dacre Banks via Summerbridge. Our route then takes us to the hamlet of Heyshaw before climbing up to the moor with an optional visit to the trig at High Crag. From Yorke’s Folly we drop down into the village of Bewerley and head back to the starting point in Pateley Bridge.

It is likely to be a bit muddy in places.

Total ascent c.615 metres.

Starting Point

Meet in the pay and display Showground Car Park in Pateley Bridge, which is opposite the park and war memorial, next to the zebra crossing. The car park cost £1.80 last time we were there. There are toilets at the entrance to the park, across the road from the car park.
