Menston Morning Meander

This is a circular walk from Menston, with good views on a clear day. It’s just over five miles which makes it a yellow smiley grade, but for a short walk it is quite challenging. Walking boots are essential. We follow paths up and down through muddy fields and along stony tracks.

From Menston we head across farmland towards Guiseley and then uphill to Reva reservoir. We walk along the edge of Ilkley Moor, with great views of Wharfedale (hopefully!) before heading downhill all the way back to Menston.

There are a couple of short stretches of roadside walking and there are a few sections where it can be really muddy.

Meet on the pavement on East Parade, opposite the end of Wentworth Close.

Bring a drink and snacks to keep you going. The walk is expected to take up to 3 hours. We should be back by lunchtime. The time it takes will depend on the weather and the ground conditions.

Please dress for the weather and be aware that there is no protection from the elements, particularly on the long moorland section.

Travel by car – Please park considerately on East Parade or a nearby street.

Travel by train – The meeting point is a short walk from Menston train station.

If you’re a Ramblers member please bring your membership card (or download the Ramblers App to get your digital membership card) if possible as the walk leader will be using the Ramblers App walk register tool which scans the QR code on your card.
