http://trigpointing.uk/trig/6819  West Nab.

This route combines parts of three walks I have done previously.  There is a short section between Butterley Reservoir and the path up to Deer Hill I have not done before.  There is also a section after Deer Hill reservoir, which crosses several fields then finishes with road walking back to Meltham, which I haven't done before.

A torch may be required for the end of the walk.  Please check your batteries are working and bring spares with you.

Starting from the car park behind The Carlile Institute, we use footpaths out of Meltham and up Wessenden Head Road.  We turn off onto a lane that leads to Royds Edge, then walk across several fields up to West Nab.  Care is required as we cross the main road several times.

After West Nab we walk along Wessenden Head Road for about a mile without a footpath, then we turn off onto the path that passes Wessenden, Blakeley and Butterley Reservoirs.

We follow the Colne Valley Circular Walk, which has views towards Marsden, for a short distance then turn off onto the path up Deer Hill to the reservoir.  Our return to Meltham is via a field and several roads (Red Lane, New Bridge and Mill Moor Road, which is the only one with a footpath).
