May Bank Holiday Monday Menston Walk

2021-05-03 11:00:00 2021-05-03 14:30:00 Europe/London May Bank Holiday Monday Menston Walk

The maximum number of people on this walk will be 10, including the walk leader.

This is a 6 mile circular walk from Menston, with good views on a clear day. Walking boots are essential. We follow paths up and down fields and along stony tracks. A long stretch of the route can be extremely muddy if it's been raining.

From Menston we head across farmland towards Guiseley and then gradually uphill to Reva reservoir where we will stop for a lunch break (please bring a packed lunch). We then walk along the edge of Ilkley Moor, with great views of Wharfedale (hopefully!) before heading downhill all the way back to Menston.

There are a couple of short stretches of roadside walking and there are a few narrow paths where we will need to give way if we meet people coming the other way. There are several stiles and gates along the route.

Meet on East Parade opposite the end of Wentworth Close. Please park considerately on East Parade or a nearby street.

The walk is expected to take up to 3.5 hours including the lunch break. The time it takes will depend on the weather and the ground conditions.

There is no protection from the elements on the moorland section so you may want to bring an extra layer to put on.

If you’re a Ramblers member please bring your membership card (or download the Ramblers App to get your digital membership card) if possible as the walk leader will be using the Ramblers App walk register tool which scans the QR code on your card.
