2019-01-05 10:00:00 2019-01-05 13:15:00 Europe/London Leeds City Centre to Kirkstall via Newlay & Hawksworth

A straightforward linear walk of about 7 miles, from Leeds city centre to Kirkstall via Newlay and Hawksworth. Much of the walk will be along the canal. If you are new to hiking with a group this might be a good one for you to try.

The walk will finish at the Vesper Gate pub opposite Kirkstall Abbey.

Meet in Leeds City Centre outside The Hop in Granary Wharf, to start the walk at 10am.

We will stop occasionally for short breaks but there will not be a lunch break as the walk will end at lunchtime. Bring snacks and water to keep you hydrated along the walk. You could bring a packed lunch to eat after the walk in the grounds of Kirkstall Abbey. Alternatively, the Vesper Gate pub serves food and there is also a cafe next to the Abbey Museum close by.

To get back to Leeds from the end of the walk there are various buses that stop nearby and there is the Kirkstall train station as well. If the trains are not impacted by strike action, the walk leader will be parking at Kirkstall train station in the morning and getting the train into Leeds for the start of the walk.

If you have any queries check out our FAQs and/or contact the walk leader. There is no need to sign up in advance, although you can indicate you are attending on the MeetUp app if you use that. See you next to the canal, near The Hop.
