*Route updated 16/02/20 to avoid notoriously muddy section*

From Knaresborough we head to the village of Goldsborough. From there we continue to Little Ribston, stopping for our lunch-break at about the 4.5 mile point, looking across the River Nidd to Ribston Hall. We then head to Plompton Hall and cross the southern bypass to Birkham Wood. After passing through a caravan site we follow a quiet road along the River Nidd into Knaresborough and then head up steps to Knaresborough Castle. The route then takes us through the town centre back to the starting point.

There are several post-walk refreshment options in Knaresborough town centre. The walk leader can point you in the direction of the starting point if you do not wish to stop for refreshments.

We have to cross the busy A658 on two occasions on this walk. Please take extra care when crossing the road.

Much of the walk is on sturdy tracks/quiet roads but we do cross some fields and farmland and there will be some mud. Please wear appropriate gear and bring a packed lunch.

Meeting point:  York Place Long Stay Pay & Display Car Park in Knaresborough. Post code HG5 0AD. The entrance is on the main road, opposite the swimming pool, next to the Marquis of Granby pub. We will meet in front of the toilet block at 10.15, to start the walk at 10.30.
