Ilkley to Bolton Bridge Circular Walk – Followed by Drinks!

2019-04-27 11:10:00 2019-04-27 17:45:00 Europe/London Ilkley to Bolton Bridge Circular Walk – Followed by Drinks!

Starting at Ilkley Railway Station we make our way to Riverside Gardens and thence to the official start of the Dalesway at Old Bridge. We then follow the Dalesway route upstream along the River Wharfe to Addingham and thence Bolton Bridge, with a lunch stop above Lob Wood. We return to Addingham via pastures and a golf course and thence tackle a stiff climb up to Rombalds Moor, where we take the lower moorland route back to Ilkley via Swastika Stone.

The walk is likely to take about 6½ – 7 hours allowing for a stop or two.

Upon returning to Ilkley, I intend to stay for (several) drinks, commencing at Friends of Ham (as we walk past it on the way back into Ilkley), then settling in at Bar T’at for a few; we can eat either here or one of the numerous eating places around Ilkley. Trains back to Leeds run every half hour approx. until 23.18 (arr. 23.46).

Getting to Ilkley: Catch the 10:33 train from Leeds to arrive in Ilkley at 11:01. You can also catch the X84 bus from Leeds bus station (dep. 09:35) that calls at Headingley, Bramhope, Otley and Burley en route to arrive at Ilkley at 10:53.

Those of you wishing to drive can park in the nearby West Street car park, or free parking may be available along Riverside Gardens.

Meet at 11:00 for an 11:10 start (if bus or train delayed we will wait).
