Dawn Chorus Walk

2019-05-05 06:00:00 2019-05-05 08:45:00 Europe/London Dawn Chorus Walk

It’s International Dawn Chorus Day on this date, so the purpose of this walk is to hear it. Hence the rather early start! It’s a circular walk of about five miles, mainly through woodland. From Apperley Bridge we will head to Greengates and Calverley.

The Bridge Café, which is close to the meeting point, should be open from 0830 if you fancy going for breakfast after the walk.

Walking boots and warm clothing are recommended. If the weather is dry we will be pausing a few times along the way to have a listen to the birdsong (assuming there is some!).

Unfortunately the walk leader is not able to offer any advice on the walk as to which birds can be heard, but there are some useful guides on the internet if you want to do some prep! For example: https://www.britishbirdlovers.co.uk/articles/the-dawn-chorus

We will meet in the free public car park next to the A658 in Apperley Bridge. The car park is opposite the car wash. We will set off at 6am.

Due to the anti-social timing of this walk, the walk leader needs to know in advance who is going. Please email the walk leader or indicate your attendance on the MeetUp app if you use that.
