Dawn Chorus Walk for the Early Birds! *Booking Required*

2022-05-01 05:00:00 2022-05-01 07:45:00 Europe/London Dawn Chorus Walk for the Early Birds! *Booking Required*

This is a repeat of last year's Dawn Chorus walk.

It's International Dawn Chorus Day on this date, so the purpose of this walk is to get out there and hear it! Ideally we would be out before dawn to listen to the first voices but we should still hear a good performance at 5am.

Walking boots and warm clothing are recommended. If the weather is dry we will be pausing a few times along the way to have a listen to the birdsong (assuming there is some!).

Unfortunately the walk leader will not be able to offer any advice as to which birds can be heard on the day, but there are some useful guides on the internet if you want to do some prep! For example: https://www.britishbirdlovers.co.uk/articles/the-dawn-chorus

Much of the walk is on wide paths through woodland. There are a couple of up/down sections including steps. There are a couple of road crossings too.

Bring a torch as it could be dark when we set off.

The walk leader will be eating a packed breakfast on the chevin after the walk if it is dry weather. It might be an idea to bring a hot drink in a flask too.

Please note the address details below are for the Royalty pub. The car park we are meeting in is opposite the pub.
