2021-07-25 10:15:00 2021-07-25 15:00:00 Europe/London Buckden - Yockenthwaite 8 miles (plus optional 3 mile extension)

The maximum number of people on this walk will be 15, including the Walk Leader.

From Buckden we head through Rakes Wood to the hamlet of Cray and then follow the limestone escarpment through beautiful wildflower meadows to meet the Dales Way at Yockenthwaite. We follow the river a short distance to reach a small stone circle where we will stop for a lunch break (please bring a packed lunch).

We will then head back to Buckden by following the route of the Dales Way along the river Wharfe, via Hubberholme where there is a picturesque 12th century Norman church which contains a few mice carved by Robert Thompson (The Mouseman) of Kilburn.

As we reach the edge of Buckden, there is likely to be an optional three mile extension up a hill to Redmire Wood and back with great views across the valley. (Anyone not wanting to do the extra section can just head up the road a short distance to the car park.)

The starting point is the large pay and display car park in Buckden. Nearest post code is BD23 5JA. Allow plenty of time for your journey.

There are toilets at the meeting point.

If you’re a Ramblers member please bring along your membership card (or download the Ramblers App to get your digital membership card) if possible as the walk leader will be using the Ramblers App walk register tool which scans the QR code on your card.
