Bradford to Ilkley (Linear Walk)

2022-05-28 10:30:00 2022-05-28 17:15:00 Europe/London Bradford to Ilkley (Linear Walk)

This is a linear walk of about 13 miles from Bradford city centre to Ilkley, following the route of the Dales Way Link.

Starting from Bradford Forster Square train station, we follow a surprisingly green route along the Canal Road corridor to Shipley and Saltaire. We then head uphill through the woodlands of Shipley Glen, before crossing farmland and moors to reach the Twelve Apostles stone circle. We then head down into Wharfedale, with views over Ilkley and beyond. The walk will end in Ilkley town centre.

It is really exposed on the moor and we are up there for a few miles. Please dress for the weather…bring an extra layer/sun cream/sufficient water etc.

Transport Options

We are meeting at Bradford Forster Square Train Station (not to be confused with Bradford Interchange which is a ten minute walk from Bradford Forster Square).

There are various options. You could…

– Catch the train from Leeds to the meeting point and then catch the train to Leeds from Ilkley at the end of the walk.

– Leave your car in Bradford (the Broadway Shopping Centre car park in the city centre is £2 all day at weekends) and get the train back from Ilkley at the end of the walk.

– Leave your car at Ilkley and catch the train to the meeting point.

Ramblers members please bring along your membership card (or digital version).
