Afternoon Walk in Harrogate

2020-01-26 13:00:00 2020-01-26 16:00:00 Europe/London Afternoon Walk in Harrogate

This is an afternoon walk of about 6 miles, from the Valley Gardens in Harrogate to the village of Beckwithshaw and back.

We will have a few short rest stops along the route, but we won’t be stopping for a lunch break so please have your lunch before you arrive.

We will mainly be walking through woodland and fields which could be muddy. We should get some good views if it’s a nice day.

At one point we do have to walk along a main road without a footpath. Please walk in single file in that section.

If you are new to hiking with a group, this might be a good one for you to try. It is a fairly flat route with a couple of ups and downs.

Please bring water and snacks to keep you going and dress for the weather. Walking boots are recommended.

We should be back before darkness sets in but bring a torch just in case.

We will meet next to the stone pillars at the Harlow Moor Drive entrance to the Valley Gardens. Please note that this is not the main entrance to the Valley Gardens, so please check the map if you’re not sure where it is. The entrance we are meeting at is next to a small roundabout where Harlow Moor Drive meets Valley Drive and Valley Mount. The nearest post code is HG2 0JT.

Roadside parking on Harlow Moor Drive is recommended (it’s free!) Watch out for parking restrictions on other streets.

The meeting point is about a twenty minute walk from Harrogate Train/Bus Station.

There may be the opportunity for refreshments after the walk in the cafe in the Valley Gardens or there are a couple of pubs within walking distance of the meeting point.
