Summer Pub Crawl ***Update - Full Details***

2018-06-02 12:00:00 2018-06-02 :00 Europe/London Summer Pub Crawl ***Update - Full Details***

For those of you who have yet to indulge yourselves in the Take-a-Hike annual summer pub crawl, it involves a proper walk, punctuated by occasional ‘rests’ at pubs that we ‘just so happen’ to pass by en route. Usual walking gear required.

This year’s summer pub crawl will be in the Colne Valley area, just west of Huddersfield.

It will start in Marsden and finish in Slaithwaite, allowing us to get there and back by train. A train from the Leeds/Huddersfield direction arrives at 11:37. The Riverhead Brewery Tap opens at 12 for our ‘starter’ beer.

It’s a gentle mile along the canal followed by a mile uphill to the Rose & Crown at Cop Hill. I suggest this would be a good place for lunch, before the 2-mile down-and-up walk to the Lower Royal George on Pole Moor.

Another mile or so brings us to Scapegoat Hill, where there are 3 pubs with just a few minutes between them.

Finally, it’s just over a mile sharply downhill into Slaithwaite, with a few pubs to choose from before hourly trains home.

Although there will be meals available at some of the pubs, please take snacks and water, especially if it’s a hot day.
