Dales Way Stage 5 and 6 - Weekend in Kendal

2018-09-21 19:00:00 2018-09-21 :00 Europe/London Dales Way Stage 5 and 6 - Weekend in Kendal

This year Take a Hike have been walking the Dales Way (Ilkley to Bowness on Windermere) as a series of day walks. This weekend away based in Kendal allows us to complete the final two stages. This will be a fun and social way to finish the Dales Way.

Arrive at Kendal Hostel on Friday evening (lift sharing where possible).

On Saturday 22nd September we will walk Stage 5 – a 15 mile stretch from Sedbergh to Burneside. Transport from Kendal to Sedbergh will be organised (public bus, taxi or private hire minibus/coach depending on numbers – split the cost evenly between participants). This stunning 15 mile stage of the Dales Way takes in the Howgills and crosses the M6 into the Lake District. We have the option of public bus or train back to Kendal at the end of this stage, followed by a pub meal in Kendal.

On Sunday 22nd we’ll catch the train or bus back to Burneside and walk the final 10 miles of the Dales Way (Stage 6), finishing at Bowness on Windermere. After a compulsory paddle in Windermere we’ll have a celebratory lunch and then catch the train back to Kendal before heading home.

I have booked 14 beds in Kendal Independent Hostel , organised in single sex dorms, at £22 per person per night. These spaces are available ‘first come first served’ – please contact Andy (details below) to book your place.

£44 covers the cost of your bed for two nights – the hostel provides free tea and coffee, and various breakfast options are available in the hostel (ranging from £3 – £6) which can be ordered and paid for at the hostel on the day.

You are very welcome to book alternative accommodation of your own but please let Andy know that you have done so. This is essential so that I can organise transport to the start of the walk (and can book us all in for the all important pub dinner on the Saturday night).
