Over forty Take a Hikers and one very special guest celebrated 15 years of the group on a glorious day in Nidderdale. On Saturday 3rd June we were treated to a great walk from Pateley Bridge, taking in the famous Brimham Rocks. The 12 mile walk was based on a route designed by Mike Brockhurst aka ‘The Walking Englishman’ who had very kindly joined us for day. The ‘Walking Englishman’ website https://www.walkingenglishman.com provides lots of routes within our region and beyond, and has no doubt inspired a number of Take a Hike walks over the years. Climbing out of Pateley Bridge we had glorious views along the Panorama Walk to Blazefield before heading east to Brimham Rocks. It was great to see lots of happy walkers poised on top of the rocks in the June sunshine. Nidderdale was looking at its very best as we reached Yorke’s Folly and got great views of the whole valley. Huge thanks to The Walking Englishman for sharing his time and all his stories with us and thanks to all Take a Hikers past and present who have contributed to the group’s success. Here’s to the next 15 years!
