The Take A Hike AGM is on Saturday 2nd December 2017 at 2pm.
All Take A Hike members are invited to attend the AGM on Saturday 2nd December 2017 at 2pm. It will be held at The Victoria Hotel, Great George Street, Leeds LS1 3DL.
The meeting is your chance to review the progress of the group and elect a committee for 2018. We hope as many as possible of you will be able attend. After the AGM, we shall head off for a few drinks around Leeds City Centre followed by a meal somewhere (probably a curry, but the choice is up to those who attend).
How you can help:
If you’d like to be more involved in the group, joining the committee is a good opportunity. All committee members step down from their positions at the AGM and are eligible for re-election if they wish to stand again. Committee roles are open to all members, with the exception of the technical post of Web Secretary which is appointed to a suitable candidate by the committee. As well as the officer roles, there is the post of Member Representative, which is a great way of contributing and finding out more, without having any formal responsibilities.

If you do not want to formally join the committee but would like to help by planning/leading a walk, organising a weekend away or hosting a social, please talk to us if you need any support.
Social for AGM attendees:
The AGM is expected to last about an hour but could be a little longer if there is a lot of debate or several nominations for each committee role. After the AGM we will be having a pub crawl around a few city centre hostelries, followed by a meal somewhere (probably a curry, but the choice is up to those who attend and availability!).
Committee Roles & Responsibilities:
General Secretary & Treasurer: Main responsibilities are chairing and organising the committee meetings, holding the purse-strings and circulating the meeting agenda/minutes. Represents the group within the Ramblers organisation. First point of contact for any matters regarding the group/feedback.
Membership Secretary: Receives membership updates from Central Office and ensures new or prospective members are given a warm welcome. Responsible for answering questions about membership and replying to queries from potential and existing members.
Walks Secretary: Co-ordinates the Walks Diary and the encouragement of members to lead walks. Checks walk information accuracy before approval. Represents the group within the Ramblers organisation.
Social Secretary: Co-ordinates the Social Calendar, keeping the Social Diary up to date and supporting everyone to get involved. Traditionally responsible for organising the summer and winter bashes.
Footpath Secretary: Keeps a watching brief on matters relating to rights of way in the area and is the point of contact for footpath issues. Collates information and reports problems affecting footpaths and rights of way. Represents the group within the Ramblers organisation.
Member Representative(s): An opportunity to provide input and feedback from a group member perspective, without any formal responsibilities. It is a good way to find out more about how the committee works and what is involved.
