Take A Hike Annual General Meeting & Quiz Night
All ‘Take A Hikers’ are invited to attend the TAH Annual General Meeting on Zoom on Tuesday 24th November 2020 at 7.30pm which will be followed by a quiz.
The purpose of the AGM is to reflect on the past year and elect a committee for 2021. Normally we would hold the meeting in a pub. This time you can join in from the comfort of your own home!
TAH is very much shaped by its members. We hope that as many of you as possible are able to show your support by attending this event. Everyone is welcome, whether TAH is a recent discovery for you or you’ve been around a while longer. As soon as the formalities of the AGM are complete, the event will transform into a quiz kindly organised by TAH Member Rep Vicki.
Please book your place using the Eventbrite link in the AGM event in the TAH diary. Booking closes at 17:00 on Friday 20th November. The Zoom details & AGM report will be sent by e-mail to everyone who has booked a place.
Take A Hike Needs YOU!
All members are encouraged to contribute to TAH in whatever way they can, whether that’s leading a walk, organising a social (when they’re allowed again), helping other people to do so, or simply supporting the events in the diary. If you want to get involved in walk-leading please contact a committee member.
Something else to consider is joining the committee – it’s an opportunity to contribute and find out more about the group. A great way to contribute without having any formal responsibilities is by volunteering to be a Member Rep. Committee members retire from their positions at the AGM and are eligible for re-election if they wish to stand again (which generally is the case this year).
Committee roles are open to all members, with the exception of the technical post of Webmaster which is appointed by the committee. See more details below. The committee generally meets 4 or 5 times a year (currently on Zoom).

What does the committee do?
General Secretary & Treasurer – Arranges committee meetings, notes the minutes/actions and holds the purse-strings. First point of contact for matters regarding the group. Represents the group within the Ramblers organisation.
Membership Secretary – Receives membership updates from Central Office. Ensures new or prospective members are given a warm welcome. Responsible for answering questions about membership and replying to queries.
Walks Secretary – Publishes the Walks Diary and encourages members to lead walks. Checks walk info before publishing. Manages walk bookings. Represents the group within the Ramblers organisation.
Social Secretary – Publishes the Social Calendar and encourages members to organise socials and get involved. Traditionally responsible for organising the summer and winter bashes. [Face to face socials are currently not allowed]
Footpath Secretary – Keeps a watching brief on matters relating to rights of way in the area and is the point of contact for footpath issues. Represents the group within the Ramblers organisation.
Webmaster [appointed by the committee] Oversees the smooth running and ongoing development of the TAH website.
Member Representative(s) Provides input and feedback from a group member perspective, without any formal responsibilities. It’s a great way to find out more about TAH!
